Woven out of dried water hyacinth by hand in Northern Thailand, these traditional weaving techniques are used for basketry and matting for domestic use for generations. The water hyacinth plant used to be considered as undesirable in many waterways, lakes and marshes in Thailand. Despite this, Thai ingenuity has made use of this plant to become durable basketry. The stalks of the water hyacinth must be properly dried before the weaving process begins. These baskets make the perfect #AmeCandy and even better in a set of three when stacked on top of each other to display at home. The baskets feature a basket closure, without lining.
